Hello Shirley,

Only just now noticed you had this going though it seems to have stalled a bit which is unfortunate.

It may well be there are too many forums and clubs etc on the one subject, or associated with that subject, for people to handle.

I am not being critical at all so please don't interpret as such.

I've not been able, or maybe not had the chance to catch up and have a chat with you so I guess now is better than not at all.

So "Compliments of the Season", 2 months plus late! How have you been and I guess by now you are looking forward to some warmer weather..

Did you stay at home over Christmas and New Year or did you manage to get away for a week or so, just to have a break? Judy and I stayed at home and had the two daughters and son over for Christmas Day. Evan boned and cooked a chicken for lunch. He stuffed it with minced beef and pork with spanish onion, shallots and various others that I really took no notice of and then rolled in about 16 slices of prosciutto, cooked with wine and sliced into 2 inch slices.

Served with a nice garden salad and a cold Australian Chardonnay it was a really nice lunch and great to have the family all together which rarely happens due to work timetables etc, etc.

I guess you heard about our bushfires on February 7...........Black Saturday, when temperatures reached 117. Not many people are aware but around midday the temp was 109 and by 3.pm it hit 117 and 118 in some areas with winds of 45-50 km/ph fanning a scrub fire that had now spread over a 40 mile front.

It wiped out 7 towns, literally from the map and the toll is 200 hundred odd and still rising as the Forensic people are still finding remains in the burnt out towns.

It was pretty scary for three or four days and nights, the fire front was not more than 15 minutes from us and a stronger wind.....well, we were prepared but those on the Saturday, nothing could save them due to the ferocity of the speed at which the fire spread and there was basically no warning at all. Some of these towns had only one way in and out.

I have collated a few pictures that tell a bit of the story, it is the first time I've used this share site so here goes.

Kind regards,

David

Wow, Daviod, those pictutres leave me speechless. I knew about those fires and I knew they were very bad, but like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Thank you for sharing them. I am sure that had to be a very frightening experience.

I have not uploaded here for awhile partly because things in my own life have gotten very distracting. One of my brothers is very sick. I still don't know if he will survive his illness. Then, four days ago my husband had back surgery. He still needs a lot of care recovering.

I believe you are right that there are so many otr places now that it is hard for us to all keep up with. I plan to leave this place up and add shows when I can again. Feel free to add also if you would like to.

Take care, my friend.

Shirley
